Mechanical Defect Reports
With MD Reports, Railinc provides a centralized and automated to report mechanical defects in a single, easy-to-use, web-based application. The MD Reports application enables railroads and shops to submit Mechanical Defect Forms MD-11 and MD-115 to Railinc for analysis with the goal of reducing mechanical service interruptions (derailments and other line of road failures) and increasing yard and shop efficiency.
Follow the steps below to begin using MD Reports.
Apply for a Railinc Identifier. Go to the Railinc Onboarding page to begin the application process. If you already have a Railinc Company Identifier, proceed to Step 2.
Register to use Railinc Single Sign-on. Click the Customer Login link in the upper right hand corner of http://www.railinc.com and login with your user ID and password, or select the Need to Register link and follow the prompts to establish your account and request access to MD Reports. If you already have an SSO account, proceed to Step 3.
Once you have a user ID, login to Railinc.com and select the View/Request Permissions link from the Launch Pad. Then select the Request button for MD Reports and select the Mechanical Defect User Role.
